Be Clean - Sermon Reflection

Jesus healed a leper.

But, what do we do when we are not healed?

While Jesus is in one of the towns, a leper comes along with an advanced case of leprosy. He likely has little time left and looks just dreadful. Out of great desperation, he breaks the rule that lepers are to stay 50 feet away from people and begs Jesus to heal him, unsure if Jesus would even be willing. Jesus responds with compassion and power that no one has ever seen, restoring the leper physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Just as Jesus cares for the leper, he cares for us today. We can take comfort in the fact that God will either heal us or give us what we need to face the challenges that are before us and that he will love us from beginning to end – no matter what.

Discussion Questions:

1. How can we become people who know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are God’s beloved child and can always depend upon him for help?

2. How can this knowledge help us when:

  • Our friends let us down?

  • We have a health scare?

  • We make a mistake?

  • Someone is angry at us?

  • Our finances take a dive?

  • We are overwhelmed at work?

  • We don’t know what to do (in a given situation)?

  • We have trouble forgiving someone?

  • We lose a loved one?
